A wedding celebrant is the person who legally conducts your marriage ceremony. Chris handles all the required legal paperwork including the Notice of Intended Marriage, lodges the marriage certificates after the ceremony and writes a personalised ceremony script based on your story as a couple. On the day he coordinates the timing of the processional and ceremony, guides you and your guests through each part of the service, and makes sure the legal component is completed correctly. He also works with your DJ and photographer to keep everything running to schedule.

For weddings on the South Coast and Illawarra, book 12 months out if you can. Six months is the bare minimum. Saturday dates from September through April go quickly, especially in Bowral, Kiama and Huskisson, where venue bookings drive demand. The Notice of Intended Marriage must be lodged at least one month before the ceremony, but locking in your celebrant early gives you more room to plan the ceremony without a looming deadline.

Yes, and Chris encourages it. He guides you through the process in pre-ceremony consultations. Some couples write entirely from scratch, others work from frameworks he provides and personalise from there. The legal monitum (required wording) is always included, and Chris reviews your final vows before the day so everything flows naturally when spoken aloud.

The main requirement is the Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM), which must be signed and lodged at least one month before your ceremony and no more than 18 months beforehand. Both parties need to provide proof of identity (birth certificate or passport) and proof of age. If either person has been married before, a divorce certificate or the death certificate of a former spouse is also required. Chris walks you through all of this at your first meeting and handles the lodgement.

Most ceremonies run between 20 and 45 minutes. A short legal-minimum ceremony takes around 15 to 20 minutes. A fully personalised ceremony with readings, vows, ring exchange, a unity ritual and a few poems or songs typically runs 35 to 45 minutes. Chris discusses ceremony length with you during planning and paces the script so it never drags or feels rushed.

Yes. Chris has conducted ceremonies on South Coast beaches, at Illawarra clifftops, in Bowral estate gardens, vineyard properties in Robertson, heritage barns near Berry, private backyards in Wollongong and function centres across the region. There is no requirement for a ceremony to happen at a licensed venue. If you have a location in mind, ask and Chris can advise on practical considerations like power for a microphone, permit requirements for public spaces and weather contingency planning.

Yes. Chris regularly travels to Bowral, Mittagong, Moss Vale, Robertson, Berrima and Bundanoon for ceremonies, and also covers greater Sydney including the Inner West and Sutherland Shire. Travel costs may apply for locations beyond Wollongong. Tell us your venue location and we will confirm any additional fees upfront.

The DJ controls the music: selecting tracks, reading the crowd, managing energy levels through the night and handling technical audio for the venue. The MC manages the timeline and keeps guests informed: introducing the bridal party, cuing speeches, calling guests to the dance floor and making announcements at the right moments. Chris does both, so one person understands the full run of the evening and can adjust the music and the timeline together in real time, instead of two operators radioing each other.

For peak season dates (October through April) on the South Coast and Illawarra, book 12 months or more ahead. Saturday nights disappear quickly. Yes. Before your event, guests get access to an online music request system where they can submit songs directly. Chris checks requests against your preferences and the event style. On the night, guests can also ask at the DJ booth. Not every request fits the moment: Chris reads the room and uses his judgement to keep the energy right, but your preferred artists and must-play songs always get played.

Chris uses a professional Pioneer DJ setup, high-quality QSC or equivalent loudspeakers, and intelligent LED lighting rigs that respond to the music. All equipment is professional grade and maintained regularly. For ceremonies, a separate PA system is used for the microphone and any ceremony music so the two systems do not interfere with each other.

Yes. Backup gear comes to every event. This includes a backup laptop loaded with the same music library, backup cables and adapters for common connection types and spare microphones. Equipment failure at a wedding is extremely rare but the backup equipment means that if something does go wrong, it is resolved within minutes without guests noticing anything.

Yes, within reason. Chris welcomes requests on the night and will play them where they fit. He reads the room continuously throughout the event, so a request for a slow ballad during peak dance floor energy might be held for a better moment, but it will get played. The couples priorities and do-not-play list always take precedence over guest requests.

Setup takes 45 to 60 minutes. The Party Central attendant arrives at the venue before guests, sets up and fully tests the booth, and is ready to operate well before the hire period begins. Setup time does not count against your active hire period.

The Classic Mirror and Modern Mirror booths comfortably fit 6 to 8 people in a single shot. The 360 Video Booth platform fits up to 10 people. The Boomabooth is open-style and can fit larger groups depending on how people position themselves. For very large group shots, the attendant can help arrange guests for the best result.

Yes. Every package includes a custom overlay. For weddings, this typically includes your names, the wedding date and a decorative border in your theme colours. For corporate events, your company logo, event name and brand colours are all options. We design the overlay and send you a proof before the event for approval. No extra charge applies.

Yes. The dry ice used for dance floor fog creates no heat and no residue. Used correctly, it dissipates into the air without leaving a mess or triggering smoke alarms. Cold sparks are also heatless and do not shed sparks that reach guests or the floor. All Party Central special FX equipment is built and operated for indoor use, and Chris carries insurance documentation and equipment specifications for venues to review.

Yes. Always confirm special effects approval with your venue before booking them. Some venues restrict dry ice near smoke detectors, require ceiling clearance for cold sparks, or ban any effect that puts particulate in the air. Party Central can send technical specifications and safety documentation straight to your venue coordinator. Ask your venue when you sign your contract, not the week before your wedding.

The timing is entirely your choice. The most popular moments are the first dance (dry ice or cold sparks either side of the couple), the grand entrance into the reception (CO2 cannons), the cake cutting and the last dance. Chris coordinates every effect directly with your run sheet so the trigger happens at the exact right moment. Nothing fires early, nothing fires late and there is no awkward wait while equipment warms up.

A deposit secures your date immediately. Once you are happy with the service and pricing, Chris sends a booking agreement and deposit invoice. We confirm the deposit amount at enquiry stage. Without a deposit, your date stays open to other enquiries. Once you decide to go ahead, the deposit process takes less than 10 minutes.

Deposits are non-refundable as they hold the date exclusively for you and remove it from availability. If you cancel with 60 or more days notice before the event date, the balance payment (if already made) is refunded in full. Cancellations inside 60 days may be subject to partial or full forfeiture of the balance depending on circumstances. Full terms are set out in the booking agreement provided at the time of deposit.

Yes. A free consultation call or face-to-face meeting in Wollongong is always available before you commit to anything. Most couples find it useful to meet Chris in person to get a feel for his style and personality, particularly for the celebrant role where his presence and delivery on the day matters more than any specification sheet. Video calls are also available for couples based outside the Wollongong area. There is no obligation and no sales pressure at the meeting.
