A Wollongong wedding, start to finish

What each service does on the day

You can take one of these or all six. Most Wollongong couples take three.

Celebrant

Chris writes your ceremony from scratch and handles the paperwork, the NOIM and the rehearsal. He ranks in the top five celebrants for the South Coast and Southern Highlands in the Australian Wedding Awards. See wedding celebrant.

DJ and MC

Same person on the mic and the music, so the run sheet and the set move together. See DJ Wollongong.

Photo booth

Five booths (classic mirror, modern mirror, 360 video, Boomabooth and Glambot), each with an attendant on site. See photo booth hire Wollongong.

Special effects

Dry ice, cold sparks, CO2 cannons and bubbles, run by a trained operator, covered by $20 million public liability insurance and cleared with your venue. See special FX.

Photography

Alex shoots candid coverage across the Illawarra. See wedding photography.

A Party Central wedding ceremony

Why the gaps between vendors cost you the most time

Your photographer has not met your DJ. Your DJ has not met your celebrant. Nobody has met the venue coordinator until the morning of.

So the ceremony finishes twelve minutes late, the DJ does not know, and the cocktail music starts over the top of your exit song. Later the photographer wants the couple outside for last light at the same moment the MC is calling everyone in for speeches. Neither person is at fault. Nobody briefed the other.

When one person runs the ceremony, the hosting and the music, those collisions stop happening, because the same brain holds all three timelines. Booked separately across the Illawarra, a celebrant, MC and DJ runs about $3,500. The package is $2,990.

What wedding entertainment costs in Wollongong

Every figure below is the 2026 price. Travel across the Illawarra sits inside it rather than arriving as a line item afterwards.

Celebrant

A legals-only ceremony is $700. A full custom ceremony is $1,500 and runs about 25 minutes. It includes unlimited revisions, all the paperwork, your official marriage certificate, guidance on vows, a Bose battery-powered sound system, ceremony music, an in-person meeting and unlimited contact after it.

DJ and MC

Five hours of DJ is $1,200, with extra hours at $150. Adding MC to a DJ booking is $500. On its own, MC is $800. Uplighting to colour the room walls is $250, an audio guestbook is $300, and a silent disco runs $550 per fifty pairs of headphones across three channels.

Photo booth

The mirror booth is $900 for three hours or $1,200 for five, extra hours $150, and five-hour bookings include your pick of backdrop. Every booking has unlimited 4x6 prints, photo texting, a premium guest book, a customised overlay and props. The Boomabooth is $500 for the whole night. The 360 spinner is $1,200 for four hours, then $200 an hour.

Special effects

The standard package is $990: two spark machines for your entrance, four for the first dance, and dry ice rolling across the floor during it. Add spark machines for the cake cut or outdoor photos, or CO2 guns for the dance floor.

Photography

Six hours is $2,990, eight hours $3,490 and ten hours $3,990. A full ten-hour day delivers 600 to 800 edited images in high and low resolution within six weeks, with a 50-image sneak peek in 48 hours. Event photography starts at $880.

The four packages

Bundling costs less than booking the same services one at a time. These are the four we run.

How the planning works once you book

A 25 per cent deposit holds your date. After that nothing is required of you for a while, which is deliberate.

Planning starts four to six months out, and how early depends on how many services you have booked. You get planning sheets that walk you through the decisions in order, so you are answering questions rather than staring at a blank page wondering what you have forgotten.

Two catch-ups follow, in person or online, whichever suits. The first sits around eight weeks out and covers the shape of the day. The second lands a week before and locks the detail. If you want more than two, you get more than two.

Music is yours to drive. Pick the songs that matter, send a playlist, and let your guests put in requests. Chris builds around what you give him rather than handing you a fixed list to choose from.

Wollongong, the coast and the Highlands

Wollongong sits inside what we call the South Coast run, so a Wollongong booking and a South Coast booking are the same job to us. What changes is the kind of venue you are choosing between.

The coast gives you beach options. Ceremonies on sand or a headland, receptions with water in the window, and the wind and light considerations that come with both. The Southern Highlands runs the other way, toward historic buildings and gardens, which means indoor receptions with hard surfaces and grounds that photograph well in a different register.

It matters for what you book rather than who you book. A beach ceremony needs wind-protected audio and rules out cold sparks outdoors. A garden or historic room usually gives you a curfew and a space where dry ice holds its shape. Tell us the venue and the rest follows.

Booking and lead time in the Illawarra

Chris answers every enquiry himself within 24 hours, then a short call or a coffee with no pressure, then an itemised quote for your venue and date.

A 25 per cent deposit holds the date. Peak season runs October to April and most 2027 peak Saturdays have gone. Shoulder-season Fridays and Sundays stay open far longer and usually cost less at the venue too.

Can we book only some of the services?

Yes. Take one, three or all six. The $510 saving applies when you take the full Celebrant, MC and DJ bundle, and photo booth, special effects and photography can be added to any combination.

Why book wedding entertainment from one team?

Because the gaps between vendors are where a wedding day loses time. A late ceremony that nobody relays to the DJ, or a photographer wanting last light while the MC calls speeches, happens when three people hold three separate timelines. One person running the ceremony, the hosting and the music removes those collisions.

What does wedding entertainment cost in Wollongong?

The Celebrant, MC and DJ package is $2,990, around $510 under booking those three separately in the Illawarra. Photo booth, special effects and photography are quoted on top, and you get an itemised price for your venue and date before committing.

How far ahead should we book?

As soon as you have a date, ideally before the venue is locked in. October to April is peak across the Illawarra and most 2027 peak Saturdays have already gone. A 25 per cent deposit holds the date.
